The Westside Barbell Pro Resistance Bands

The Westside Barbell Pro Resistance Bands

Conjugate Method training calls on athletes to perform two maximal and dynamic effort workouts each week, with the intent of improving the absolute strength and rate of force development of both upper and lower body muscle groups. This combination of maximal and dynamic effort training results in athletes improving both absolute strength and explosive power and leads to significant improvements in sport performance.

Simply put, max effort training enhances peak force output capabilities, and dynamic effort training decreases the time required to reach peak force output. To accomplish this goal, we utilize a multitude of training tools. One standard training tool that is used during both maximal and dynamic effort training is resistance bands.

While Dick Hartzell invented the exercise resistance band, Louie Simmons pioneered the use of resistance bands with barbell exercises. After many years of use, Westside Barbell and Conjugate Method training have become closely associated with resistance band training.

However, there is one issue that all users of resistance bands will run into: wear and tear. The common rubber resistance band quality deteriorates over time, leading to reduced resistance and the risk of bands snapping in half during training. Once a certain amount of wear and tear occurs, the applied resistance varies, and the risk of injury due to band failure increases.

Throughout our many years of resistance band use, these issues became frustrating to the point that we decided we must find a solution to these problems. This is the genesis of the Westside Barbell Pro Resistance Bands – a product intended to solve the common issues all users of resistance bands will experience.

A New Level of Quality and Performance

Today, Westside Barbell exists as both a retailer and end user of resistance bands. The common rubber resistance bands that many are familiar with have been used in this gym for decades and are currently sold on our website. While there is no doubt these bands are quality, they are not impervious to the wear and tear issues all rubber resistance bands experience.

This led to the creation of a proprietary resistance band with layered latex construction that allows for consistent tension to be applied both during the actual exercise and throughout the lifespan of the resistance bands. This means no more wasted time trying to find two bands with matching resistance. The Westside Barbell Pro Bands maintain consistent tension, both in the short and long term.

The Westside Barbell Pro Resistance Bands also feature a nylon sheath covering, helping to prevent damage to the rubber. You won't have to worry about a sharp object or surface cutting your bands, and you won't have to worry about bands snapping from dry rot. The nylon sheath covering helps to keep the bands protected, no matter the training circumstances or environment.

The Westside Barbell Pro Resistance Bands also feature nylon loops to make the task of anchoring the bands to a squat rack, bench press, or deadlift platform as easy as possible. Each band will have a nylon loop at each end, along with a nylon loop in the middle of the band. The middle loop will attach to the barbell, while the end loops will attach to nearly any style of pin or anchor point found on typical squat racks and deadlift platforms.

The nylon loop setup on each band ensures the band correctly indexes based on the athlete's positioning and the rack being used. Instead of having to take time to make sure both bands are similarly positioned on a rack, the three-point attachment system assures a proper setup every time. No more having to test out your setup and take extra warm-up sets to get the bands properly adjusted.

Similar to common rubber resistance bands, the Westside Barbell Pro Bands are color-coded based on resistance. However, it is essential to note that the resistance noted on each band is based on our setup during testing. Considering band setups can vary, we always recommend using a luggage or fish and game scale to check the tension applied.

Who Are These Bands For?

The Westside Barbell Pro Resistance Bands can benefit nearly any training population. Of course, strength and conventional sports athletes can benefit significantly from the use of accommodating resistance both as a tool to enhance explosive power and as a means of modifying the resistance curve of an exercise during max effort training.

However, our Pro Bands are not just for athletes. They can also be beneficial to individuals focused on general fitness and can be a helpful training tool in return to sport training post-injury.

For those running a Conjugate Method training plan, resistance bands are a must-have. The Westside Barbell Pro Resistance Bands eliminate any issues caused by improper setup and help to ensure you're using a proper band setup during your dynamic or max effort training, which helps provide reliable training feedback. No more thinking your blue bands are applying 200lbs of resistance, when truthfully, they are only applying 140lbs of resistance due to wear and tear.

If you are tired of having to buy a new set of bands multiple times a year and seek a higher quality product, the Westside Barbell Pro Resistance Bands are for you.

Often Imitated, Always Innovating

The Westside Barbell Pro Resistance Bands represent a step forward in resistance band quality and technology. As mentioned, we have been end users of exercise resistance bands for decades. We have dealt with all of the issues the average exercise resistance band end user experiences, which led to the need to create a superior product that solves them.

One thing that may immediately jump out at you is the price of the bands. While the upfront cost is more than that of the typical exercise resistance bands, the longevity and durability of the Westside Barbell Pro Resistance Bands help gym owners, coaches, and athletes save money over time.

No more ordering fresh bands multiple times per year. The original set of Pro Resistance Bands we received is still being used at Westside Barbell a year and a half later without showing any signs of significant wear or failure. These bands have purposely been put through hell and still have not experienced the wear and tear issues associated with the standard rubber exercise resistance band.

Westside Barbell has always been innovative in the strength and conditioning world. We pioneered the use of resistance bands during barbell exercises. Now, we are providing the highest quality of resistance band available to the public.
