I spent 12 years training with the wrong methods, one being the western periodization that is a dead end street.
I use a 3 week wave system which leads into circa max and delayed transformation. The soviet system I started 30 years ago prolonged my career to the point where I made top 10 lifts at 54 years old. It has enabled Westside lifters to break 100 plus world records and has helped countless more.
I am proud our resume is never up to date. Why? Because we constantly break new records all the time, check out the top lifts in the back of the book and then check out our website for updated records. You will be amazed!

I purchased "The Book of Methods", "Squat and Deadlift Manual", and "Bench Press Manual". It was a great deal for purchasing the combo. I would recommend reading the "Book of Methods" first, then use the manuals to put it together. These are not read once and leave books. They're reference books. I keep them in my gym and refer to them whenever I have something that I need to clarify, or need a refresher. The blog posts on Westside are a great resource as well. I read the blog on a regular basis. It helps with programming. I would say that reading the blog is the how, the "Book of Methods" is the why.
Its great to read about an insider's view of weight training and different methods to coax out performance from strength athletes. This is fairly comprehensive coverage of a huge amount of topics, all in the pursuit of maximum performance for just about anyone interested in finding strength. The written text is almost colloquial, in accordance with regular spoken word, versus some polished and spit-shined legal treatise, making it that much easier to read and that much relatable to every level of user. This is a one of a kind textbook on strength and performance training, just what I was looking for in order to make whatever gains I can possibly attain at my advanced age. I wish I had this 35 years ago. All hail Westside Barbell, and RIP Louie Simmons.
If you’re a beginner or you’re just looking to improve your strength from the ground up, this is a must have!
Westside barbell always has fast shipping, and the apparel fits great! There my favorite shirts. I also bought books. There are full of great information. I highly recommend the book of methods. Although all the books are great.
